Bobby Thigpen, a Louisiana native, graduated from Berwick High School in 1988, leaving a remarkable mark on the basketball court. He was a star player on his high school basketball team, helping secure three consecutive district championship titles from 1986 to 1988. During his senior year, he not only earned All-State honors for his performance on the court but also excelled academically, showcasing his commitment to both sports and education. This combination of skills laid the groundwork for his future successes.

Collegiate Success
Following high school, Thigpen took his talents to the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette). From 1988 to 1992, he made a significant impact in collegiate basketball. His most notable achievement came in 1992 when he played a crucial role in his team's victory in the Sun Belt Conference Championship. This experience not only honed his skills as a player but also shaped his vision as a future coach.
Coaching Career
Since 1997, Bobby Thigpen has focused on developing young talent as a high school coach. Over nine seasons, he has led his teams to back-to-back district championships in 2012 and 2013. Recognized for his exceptional coaching, he received Coach of the Year honors during those championship seasons. His impact resonated beyond his local community, culminating in his recognition as the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) 5A Coach of the Year in 2013, where he stood out among hundreds of coaches statewide. Coach Thigpen has coached several Division 1 basketball and football players during his 29 year coaching career.
